My Life: The Army - by Lydia

My life: The Army.

Once in a lifetime you get to do something spectacular, but not my life.
I work and fight for the army away from my darling and my children.
I lost my friend and most of my family from the treacherous ways of the Afghanistan.
Here is my story of my amazing adventures:
It was 24th December battling on the frontline saving lives and watching people
suffer with severe wounds and loss of limbs.Christmas was the next day no
presents, no cards and the worst of all NO Christmas dinner with my darling and children.
I was sat looking at her beautiful face watching the hours go by: trying to roll back the tears in my scarlet eyes. My friend walked up and gave me the biggest hug I had in years away from my life as a normal man.”Men stand up!!!”  Roared the commander, as we stood up a uproar of weapons loading, boots bellowing while pushing the air out of the way. Walking, we all marched to the tanks and took position at the battle front. While the hours of blood, men fell to the ground slowly dying of pain and miseration. Afghanistan started to back off our territory, so we pushed up fighting with all our strength and power to defend our country.
Victory was in reach now and we were about to reach into arms and bring it home, or the Afghanistan were to give up and retrieve, soon our dreams were shattered like a window crumbling in a storm. Suddenly a black shadow came from under a dilapidated truck then slowly a figure started to form in the black mist of the gunpowder.
Something shot through my leg like a piranha through the Amazon River,
a sudden moment later a tingling in my leg started to turn to a throb and slowly my veins and muscles started to shut down.Falling, I stumbled to the ground with a thud.
My face was violet with bruises from the rifle smashing into my face damaging my  mouth full of broken teeth and a ocean of blood.A blurry person sprinted to me: He checked my leg and saw I had a limb missing.Days later, I found myself lying in the comfy, warm bed in the vibrant hospital.
The doctors walked up to me with a smile and said “Sorry about your leg, you have been on conscious for three days. And your leg has now been replaced with a plastic one.” He said in a worried voice and you could tell in his face that he was looking sorry for me!
My adventures started straight after that!!!
I burbled on and on to my grandson who wants to follow my footsteps…..
